Between the 27th and 30th of September, the USP Polytechnic School, with the support of the USP Smart Cities Challenge call from USP Municipios and in partnership with Ybyrá Organization, will offer the mini-course: “Does the Forest generate garbage? How health and ancestral technologies create sustainability in cities”.

The proposal is to present and debate different perspectives and strategies for the management and treatment of waste from different sources in cities and urban parks, with the aim of discussing how they can be instruments for citizenship and socio-environmental responsibility, in view of the 17 Objectives for the UN Sustainable Development (SDGs), presenting:

- The historical context, city formations and public policies;
- The relevance of ancestral sciences and knowledge in bioeconomy,
- The fundamentals of biomimetic and biodynamic science;
- Technological evolution and sustainability;
- Entrepreneurship and ecological innovations
- Socio-environmental and climate impacts;
- Inclusive policies and the effects on waste pickers;
- Urban agriculture and agroecology;
- Legal-institutional frameworks;
- Human physical and mental health.

Among the guests are indigenous people, indigenists, engineers, psychologists, collectors, linguists, urban farmers, educators and leaders. There will be 4 online meetings, from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm, in a closed facebook group, to be sent to subscribers in advance. No prior knowledge on the subject is required.

IMPORTANT: The meetings will be held from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm on 09/27, 09/28, 09/29 and 09/30, in a closed facebook group. Invitation to this group will be sent to registrants in advance. The mini-course offers exemptions from the registration fee for indigenous and black people.
